Sanur is Bali's oldest upscale resort area and is a mature beach-side town. Despite the abundance of restaurants and accommodation, it has a quiet and relaxed feel to it. In general terms, it is more expensive than Kuta but cheaper than Seminyak. Sanur tends to appeal most to middle-aged and older families, especially Europeans. Sanur Beach is long and has white sand. Sanur can be divided in to 4 areas the north, Pantai, central and south. As Sanur was the post independence choice of most Dutch expatriots, it also has a slightly more cultural feeling than many of the other southern beach resort areas. Also, unlike Kuta / Legian, there are a large number of hotels that are actually on the beach (not separated from it by a road). Although there are a number of bars, it is not a young person entertainment area like Kuta. Sanur tends to attract more family groups.
